Learning with GIS While Learning About GIS: The EAST Way Track: Teaching with GIS Author(s): Fiona Trewby, Bonnie Brown Students participating in the Environmental and Spatial Technologies (EAST) Project apply GIS in project-based classrooms across the U.S. To learn about GIS and how to use it, students attend workshops led by experts from the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies. These workshops include Introduction to GIS using ArcGIS 9, Advanced Raster GIS, Advanced Vector GIS, Remote Sensing, Image Processing and Cartography. This presentation will demonstrate the unique methods by which the trainers work with students as well as the outcomes and products produced by students attending the workshops.
