Abstract
Remote Sensing Primer for Non-Physicists Track: Teaching with GIS Author(s): Victoria Provenza The fundamental principles of remote sensing, data preparation and image analysis will be presented enabling the ArcGIS end user and classroom teacher to incorporate exciting tools into their curriculum while meeting science, math, and technology standards. Complex components of the physics of electromagnetic radiation will be parlayed in an easy to understand format for non-scientists. Gain an understanding of how data collected from air borne sensors can advance understanding of the surface of the earth and processes including documenting changes over time from the influence of both man and natural forces. Note: This presentation is an excellent precursory explanation to Roger Palmer's paper titled "Sensing a Loss: Image Analysis of Louisiana's Wetlands".
