Abstract
Adolescent Geospatial Learning: Connecting Youth to Communities Track: Community Projects and Partnerships Author(s): Lucy Ringland What cognitive changes do youth go through when they begin to reach out and explore their communities and regional surroundings? How do they make the connections they need to navigate as they move beyond the schoolyard and neighborhood to spaces beyond their experience? Can GIS and GPS programs help teens find their ways--both physically and as members of communities--through the layers of their lives? Come examine these layers with us. We will present our work with youth groups and geospatial technologies and explore how working with teens adds meaning to their (and your own) sense of place in space.
