Student and Teacher Conceptualization of GIS in Education
Track: Teacher Education and Educational Research

This session will focus on student and educator concept of the potential of GIS as an instructional technology. Subjects were asked to present GIS instructional technology and GIS in education through drawings. The presentations and subsequent interview data will be presented to further understand what students and teachers think about GIS. Findings will compare and contrast intrapersonal concepts of GIS and IT and their roles in the K-12 setting. In addition, similarities and differences among student and teacher perceptions will be investigated.
