Abstract
 The Role of SMARTR - a GIS-Based Solution in Denver Public Schools Track: GIS for Administration & Planning Author(s): Tripti Agarwal The Smartr...for Schools Transportation Module(tm) is a powerful stand alone automated bus routing system that is comprised of a Geographic Information System (GIS). Transportation Department not only improved efficiency but also provided GIS platform that is compatible with other departments. Smartr Module creates bus routes automatically and dynamically with approximately 74,000 geocoded students, bus stops, and school addresses. In the Smartr system, there are approximately 1,425 bus routes that have been generated and transportation has provided service for approximately 22,000 students. The database and easy to use interface track such things as student information, special education students, bus information, and the first ever accident tracking and analysis. The system also provides Global Positioning System utility, custom reporting and RouteOpt for organizing runs into the most optimal routes.
