AbstractCreating a Sustainable GIS Academy Model Track: Designing GIS Curriculum for K12 Education Author(s): Phillip Davis Articulating K12 and college GIS courses is a challenging task at best. Barriers include teacher certification, transferability, teacher training, and cost issues. This paper will describe one model for building and sustaining a GIS Academy model. The Academy model provides a framework for teacher training, course articulation, and technical support between school districts and the local community college. Examples of teacher training course material, articulation agreements, academy fee structure, and technical assistance will be provided.
