What Makes a Good GIS Lab Exercise?
Track: Teaching with GIS in Higher Education
Author(s): Robert Martin

Having taught GIS for more than 15 years in a lecture/laboratory format, I have developed a series of laboratory exercises that provide a good lab experience for the students. By a good lab experience I mean a series of labs that challenge the students to think and labs that are related to each other. In this presentation I will discuss the major types of data and methods of analyses that students work with over a semester. In this process, specific exercises will be discussed. It is hoped that feedback will allow the development of a better laboratory experience for the student.
