Abstract

Exploring Resources for the K–12 Classroom
Track: Teaching with GIS in K–12 Education
Author(s): Barbaree Duke, Shannon White

Exploring Resources in the K–12 Classroom is a panel discussion about lessons learned from teaching GIS within the K–12 curriculum for the past five years. We offer both newly created lessons along with resources available on the Internet that create a cohesive link to the classroom. As fellow educators, we will facilitate a discussion on the benefits of GIS software and lessons as integral parts of your curriculum, in any subject, not just science, social studies, and geography. Bring your own experiences, questions, and concerns to this session. Join us for an open exchange that is sure to give you great ideas to take home.
