Sustaining a K–12 GIS Program

What happens when the GIS educator leaves the school? This case study research investigates the issues surrounding sustainability of GIS courses and GIS integration in a middle school setting where the key GIS facilitator left the school. The potential problems faced by schools, administrators, educators, and students in this situation will be discussed. In addition, the implications of training and support necessary for continued GIS integration in a school curriculum will be examined.
