Educational practice was carried out in The Hirano Mapping Project class in Hirano Junior High School attached to Osaka-Kyoiku University to develop valid curriculum for GIS education.

In this practice, the students search for dangerous places and historical buildings around the school, make some maps by using ArcView 9, and deliver through the Internet, by using ArcIMS 9. The practice indicated the importance of choice of suitable subject for GIS mapping. The results of the practice suggested that suitable examples and data must be provided by GIS specialists and teachers.
