Abstract

Using GIS to teach Business and Social Sciences
Track: Teaching with GIS in Higher Education
Author(s): Becca Arnold

Is GIS a useful tool for teaching business or social science courses? In Fall 2006 I conducted research in my Principles of Macroeconomics courses to determine if using GIS would increase their understanding of economics as it applied to the 'real-world'. I will present the results of the research, as well as lessons-learned, and subsequent improvements made in Spring 2007.
