Keeping GIS Energized in Your Curriculum
Track: Designing Curriculum and Degree Programs for Higher Education

Lansing Community College with its GRET (Geographic Rescource and Environmental Program)has for the past 20 years offered a two year associates of applied science degree program as well as a certificate program in GIS.The constantly changing technology and the explosion in application areas has required frequent project changes and expanded program adjustments to keep the classes fresh and pertinant to industry demands.Learn what has worked and what has not been as successful.New programs offerings involving alternative and renewable energy and green building and sustainable landscape design, and planning has added new dimensions to current programs.Lab experiences,faculty needs,equipment demands and classroom modules are just some of what needs to work to keep the program energized.
