Podcasting in Educational Geospatial Professional Development
Track: Designing Curriculum for Schools
Author(s): Shannon White, Luis Perez

Podcasts are an efficient, cost-effective delivery method for curriculum and materials in K-12 and higher education. This presentation will explore the creation and use of podcasts for professional development related to integrating geospatial technology in the classroom. An overview of the technology, the basic steps for creating and subscribing to a podcast, as well as examples of podcasting in the classroom will be provided. Next, we will highlight existing geospatial and educational podcasts. The final part of this presentation will focus on an initiative to create podcasts, both as an introduction to GIS and GPS and as a means of integrating geospatial technologies in K-12 education.
