Understanding GIS Applications for School District Administration Successes and Challenges

Particpants in this session will learn about the multiplicity of ways that GIS and geospatial tools and technologies can assist school districts with the efficient and effective allocation of resources. Examples will include boundary management, student population management, closure and consolidation analyses, student success analyses and facilities and land management information systems. There also will be a discussion of leveraging the Esri Virtual Campus for cost effective learning and training activities. This presentation will include a discuss of both the success and challenges of bringing the power of geospatial technologies to school administration. It also will highlight the numerous benefits that can occur when a school learning community has the opportunity to participate in 'purposeful applications of technology based education' experiences for learners at all levels, students, teachers and staff.
