Abstract Sustained Development: Keeping the GIS Program Healthy and Growing Track: Teaching with GIS in Higher Education Author(s): Scott Jeffrey, Jaime Alvarez Over the last two years the author has presented papers at the EduC conference about the inception and development of the Geospatial Applications program at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) outside of Baltimore, Maryland. The GIS program offers an A.A.S degree and two certificates in Geospatial Applications and since its approval as a degree granting program in 2006 the faculty and staff have used a variety of strategies to promote the sustained development of the program. This paper will present the strategies that have been successful (and unsuccessful) in growing the CCBC Geospatial Program and making it a viable curriculum.
