G.I.S. - "Getting Interested in School" through Technology
Track: Teaching with GIS in Schools
Author(s): Paula Trevino

In this session, students and faculty from Helix Charter High School will share their experiences in creating a 4-Year GIS program at the high school level. Participants will be exposed to the following: a 4-Year Continuum; Technology Graduation Requirements Proposal; examples of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year student projects and curriculum. Helix is a public charter high school of over 2200 students. The school is economically, ethnically, and academically diverse. Our GIS program is new and this session would be helpful to other teachers who are trying to start their own GIS program at their school site.
