GIS applications can be design communication tools with advanced data manipulation, analysis and image techniques. This paper will present how GIS applications apply to a design studio. Case studies of a design studio in Dept. of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, Texas A&M University will be used to illustrate how GIS applications enable landscape architects and planners to communicate their idea with others. Case studies will include maps, site analysis, design strategies and related design studio teaching methods.
