Leading the charge! Conferencing to build opportunity
Track: Teaching with GIS in Schools
Author(s): Anita Palmer, Roger Palmer

As geospatial technologies in K-16 education become more prevalent, the need for venues to network and share ideas, concerns and opportunities are necessary to keep momentum. It isn't always possible to travel to other states to attend conferences such as the Education User Conference. The GeoTech conference that celebrated its 20th year is sponsored by Bishop Dunne Catholic High School and is a powerful model to consider when putting together your local geospatial conference. This session will highlight GeoTech Dallas, as well as other conferences around the United States to provide a pattern and outline for your own gatherings. Come to this session and find advocates who wish to create regional networking opportunities. Bring your own ideas too! Sponsoring times for GIS users to get together and share ideas can be far easier than you think!
