Author(s): Mark Leipnik

A entirely new upper division course built around the integration of GIS, GPS, vehicle navigation Systems and related geospatial technologies was inaugurated in 2008. The reasons for addition of this course to existing traditional GIS and remote sensing course offerings, the design of this course and issues related to teaching the material will be addressed. In particular the success of provision of vehicle navigation systems to every student for their personal use during the course and the use of Teleatlas and Navteq geospatial data in ArcGIS for understanding the nature, limitations and accuracy of the data used in geospatial technologies such as navigation systems the will be a major focus of the presentation.
