Author(s): Jonathan Pruess, Michael Wagner

The development of a dual-enrollment Geospatial Technology course, in collaboration with the James Madison University Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) college is presented for teachers and curriculum specialists interested in offering a rigorous ArcGIS-based course for high school students. Curriculum development, network issues, staffing, materials and equipment, piloting efforts, and obtaining program of studies approval from the school board will be emphasized. Examples of final student projects will be shared as well as examples of paid and unpaid internships obtained by the students who have completed the course, demonstrating the outstanding school-to-career possibilities available to students participating in the course. Each student who successfully completes the course earns 3 credits from James Madison University.
