Author(s): Gary Coutu

Chester County 4-H recieved a software grant from Esri. Many of our 4-H clubs are made up of the children of migrant workers in the mushroom industry and come from Mexico. We have been working with these young people to introduce mapping, GIS and GPS skills into the community. This has consisted of training, poster development, geocaching, community mapping and support for mapping of local gatekeepers and social services for the families of the 4-H members. There has been a substantial amount of outreach associated with this program. It is also tied to after school programs and community center computer labs.
