Hazel Bazemore County Park Is Spatially the Best
Track: Community Projects and Partnerships
Author(s): Brian Brown

The objective of this project is to show that the reason the hawk counts at Hazel Bazemore County Park are greater than other Texas locations is the spatial features that surround the park itself.

The many analysis tools in ArcMap will be used to investigate the structure of the river valley that creates the thermal conditions and the proximatety to the Corpus Christi Bay that define this spatial area.

The conclusion is that the natural hawk behavior of avoiding the crossing of large bodies of water and the coincidence that the prefered path around the bay also produces thermal uplifts that reduce enegy consumption during their migration is why the hawk counts are high.
