Introducing the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence (GeoTech)
Track: Teaching with GIS in Higher Education
Authors: Phillip Davis, Ann Johnson, John Johnson, Lance Hundt

The GeoTech Center represents America’s two year technical and community college academic geospatial programs. We provide a single, unified voice for two year educators on a national level. Through our work with the Department of Labor and the GISCI, we developed an industry-approved Common Core Competency model. We provide professional development opportunities through webinars, conferences, and workshops around the nation throughout the year. The www.geotechcenter.org website provides a national resource repository of curriculum material for free download. Our extensive network of partners located around the nation provides online expertise in both technical and pedagogical issues facing GIS educators in the college and secondary school levels. Our pioneering technical research into Virtualizing the GIS Desktop, GIS Software As A Service (SAAS), Flex-enabled Arc Web-services can help you update your own GIS technology and presence for your students and local employers.
