Mapping Billboards of Hancock County Mississippi with High Schoolers
Track: Teaching with GIS in Schools
Authors: David Holt

A class of high schoolers from Hancock Vo-Tech mapped billboards for the Hancock tax assessors office in Mississippi to learn how GIS and GPS work. The studentd compiled attribute data tied to a lat/long point to build a ground up GIS. These data were complied with basic training and then put onto and Arc Server with a mashup with Google Earth and Street View. This gave an applicable hands on experience for students in the field of GIS.
