Authors: Vivian Costa
This paper presents results in an academic project called 'Dissemination of Geotechnology' promoted in undergraduate course of Geography – UERJ - to use GIS in the discipline of Urban Planning. A tutorial was prepared using a geospatial database (shapes) of the Rio de Janeiro County (GISWEB PortalGeo - IPP) and its manipulation in ArcGIS 10 (Desktop) with ArcGIS online. Then it was carried out consultations and analysis of urban change in the port area of the city, such as expanding the network of water supply, sewage, energy, construction of new roads, public transport and urban revitalization of this area for the Football World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Olympic Games. Students could use ArcGIS Map tools such as Geoprocessing (buffer, clip, intersect, etc.) in the spatial analysis of the database, crossed with satellite images of Bing MapHybrid, combining concepts of GIS in the clouds.
