Abstract
Spatial BI for analyzing Student Diversity in School Districts
Track: Administration and Policy

Some school districts are still under court jurisdiction for managing and controlling desegregation in their student population. Our effort intents to define a framework for measuring, analyzing, assessing and, potentially, improving student diversity in school districts using spatial analysis and BI practices.
Diversity index has been traditionally presented as a number without location. Our effort helps school district administrators to focus their efforts to critical locations with low diversity index with the final goal of getting the "county diversity index signature" represented in each particular school.
Spatial Analysis to identify clusters and define potential scenarios is used in conjunction with tools for presenting trade-off between alternatives to decision makers.
The coordinated use of data from students, Choice and Magnet programs, transportation routes and country infrastructure generates a multi dimensional view of several aspects to be considered in the right analysis for diversity, its impact, cost and evolution.
