On-line Geospatial Learning: Insights Gained and Lessons Learned

Reflections from the first year of the On-line Spatial Literacy for Educators Certificate through the University of Redlands, CA will be shared from both the student and teacher perspectives. Special focus will be given to on-line teaching methods that worked well for the delivery of geospatial content and skills, with suggestions for how to leverage the on-line environment to build a supportive GIS educational community. Gaining from these experiences, the student will share plans for applying what she has learned both in content as well as virtual delivery. The instructor will share formative and summative assessment results from the program based on the work of two cohorts of students and the four different classes that each group takes.
