The country of Rwanda is a small, landlocked country located in East Africa that is heavily dependent on imported petroleum products for energy. Roughly 42% of electricity produced in Rwanda is procured from diesel generators, which currently provides for only 15% of the population. This project highlights the use of GIS software and its tools coupled with remote sensing in finding solutions to the increasing demand for energy in the rapidly developing nation of Rwanda.
