Abstract
Using Geographic and Spatial Concepts in STEM Education
Track: Teaching and Research
Authors: Ashley Johnson, Ray Oldakowski
This project addresses the issue of integrating STEM education into K-12 curriculums using geographic and spatial concepts. Using geo-spatial concepts as a teaching tool provides students with an interactive environment where developing spatial thinking skills can be tested, proven (or disproven) and most importantly visualized. In addition, using geography to visualize specific STEM concepts, allows teachers to reiterate mathematical concepts of scale, connectivity, and modeling.
