Little Sugar Creek Watershed Study: A Project-Based Learning Approach

Students worked with Queens University of Charlotte and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Stormwater Services to determine the overall health of Little Sugar Creek (LSC) using the scientific method and project-based learning. Students assessed the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of LSC and compared results with other schools. Students showed an increased understanding of how the scientific method is used in the real world and showed an increase in awareness of human impact on local waterways.
