Where Are We Going? Mapping Alexander’s Campaign

How can we collect and analyze historic spatial information and build a spatial narrative about Alexander the Great’s campaign in central Asia? In the spring of 2015 we used ESRI’s Arc GIS online as a tool that provided students with a catalyst for historical inquiry. As such, it permitted the class to examine geography and interrogate sources so as to better understand Alexander’s travels through central Asia and thus, the relationship between space and events.
