We report a study that evaluated student engagement and opinions of interactive courseware and traditional textbooks. A survey was administered to two classes that used a new publishing format textbook created for an introductory geospatial technologies course. The platform delivers text content, real-time embedded maps, and interactive student engagement. Some participants worked through one of the chapters, while we screen-recorded their general interaction patterns were analyzed.
