Flipping an Online GIS Course

The flipped classroom is supposed to be an effective approach to promote students’ active learning consistently in their course work. I developed and implemented a flipped classroom GIS course by using the contents and format of an existing online GIS course. A series of activities and assignments was arranged to assist students achieve their learning goals through active learning. This allowed students to learn how to learn GIS concepts and skills effectively through collaborative work.
