ScotLIS - A National Land Information Service for Scotland

ScotLIS is a project exploring the possibilities and opportunities of developing a 'one-stop shop' with easy and affordable access to a wide range of computer-based information about land and property. Many organisations are involved including Registers of Scotland (RoS), Ordnance Survey, local government and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Scotland.

This paper will describe how ArcView has been successfully used in building a prototype demonstrator for ScotLIS. The implementation of such a system would have significant benefits for numerous organisations in both the private and public sector. The experiences involved in establishing a 'joint-team' project, will be discussed as well as the future for ScotLIS and the NLIS project in England.
