AbstractLSU-Emergency Operations Center Uses GIS to Protect Critical Infrastructure Track: Critical Infrastructure Protection Author The Baton Rouge Campus of Louisiana State University sits at the intersection of multiple modes of hazardous material transportation. On a typical day, LSU has approximately 50,000 people on campus. During larger sporting events, the population triples in size. The LSU emergency operations center is developing a state of the art capability to fully enable GIS support for both daily operations and large events frequently hosted by the campus. The security staff at LSU is coordinating closely with multiple GIS agencies throughout the state to develop data and applications which support functions as diverse as assessing risk levels all the way through to situational awareness. This session will describe how this project supports the role LSU EOC plays in protecting a diversity of university and community assets in this uniquely vulnerable confluence of people and critical infrastructure and hazards.
