FireWatch is a GIS enhanced application designed especially for fire departments. The easy-to-use FireWatch map interface can present answers to two of the most critical questions in fire-fighting situations: "where is it ?" and "what is there ?". FireWatch is developed with Delphi and Esri's MapObjects component library. FireWatch is equipped with a sophisticated address matching engine and all the necessary tools for zooming and navigating map data from a scanned roadmap to a detailed set of layered vector graphics. Included are also connections to databases, drawings and other documents through an easy to use WebBrowser Interface. Visual attributes and symbology are key elements in FireWatch and a data-wizard is provided for installation and management of map data.
Hnit, an Esri Business Partner, developed the "112 Emergency Response Number" application and FireWatch for Neydarlinan who is responsible for all "112" emergency calls in Iceland ("112" in Iceland and Europe is similar to "911" in United States). Since then it has been developed as an "commercial off the shelf" product and marketed as such internationally.
