Uncontrolled hazardous waste sites placed on EPA's National Priorities List (NPL) pose the most serious potential threat to public health and the environment and are eligible for cleanup using Superfund money. EPA has created an NPL Construction Completed List (CCL) to delineate sites ready for reuse because physical construction of cleanup actions are complete, immediate threats have been addressed, and long-term threats are under control. A majority of the CCL sites were placed on the NPL list in the 1980s and designated construction completed in the 1990s. ArcView GIS is used to examine population and community change near current CCL sites for the period 1980-1998.
