A Web-Based and Stand-Alone GIS Commodity Trading Application Author: Keith Richard Fraley 1400 Smith St. Phone: 713.853.0529 This paper gives the industry a look at commodity trading applications. These applications are used by weather, gas, electricity, bandwidth, and coal traders for the purpose of better understanding the physical and financial network around them. They also give the trader the ability to do complicated regression analysis on those networks. The applications are built using MapObjects in a VB environment and ArcIMS. The functionality of the applications and the graphical way the data can be displayed are the reasons that the traders prefer this type of trading mechanism. |
