Migrating the New York City Land Base to an ArcInfo 8 Geodatabase Author: Brad Barnell 1935 Jamboree Drive Phone: 719.264.5522 Analytical Surveys, Inc., compiled a photogrammetric land base consisting of planimetric coverages and color orthophotography for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. The City received the data in 2,500' x 2,500' tiles. With the recent release of ArcInfo 8 and ArcSDE 8, the City contracted with ASI to convert the entire City into a seamless Oracle geodatabase. This paper examines the Visio database design, translation procedures, and quality control steps used during the migration. The pitfalls encountered and how they were overcome are also discussed. |
