One of the greatest challenges of global agriculture is to develop efficient methodologies for supporting the increasing global population. With planetary population estimated at six billion, current growth rate estimates place the population at nine billion by the year 2050. Agricultural industry has a history of adopting newer technologies, but a redefinition of efficiency is in order. This paper will provide insight on how satellite imagery, along with GIS systems, will assist agriculture in that effort. Our responsibility as global citizens to keep peace on earth depends on it.
