Progress Report and Implementation Specifics Regarding Archaeological Spatial Databases for the Western United States Author: Dan W. Martin Building 50, DFC Phone: (303) 236-0105 Archaeological statewide spatial databases are required immediately. Benefactors of such databases include archaeologists in federal, state, and local government service and in universities performing research, as well as public land and resource users who contract archaeological services prior to land disturbing activities. Implementations of such databases are underway. Building such GIS functionality is a long-term complex procedure. This presentation reports on details regarding conversion of legacy databases currently in nonspatial formats. This type conversion is done because it is a very quick way to place usable data into the hands of end users. |
