A set of specialized databases is developed. They contain information on animal species population, especially on the rare ones. These databases are the main component for a distributed territorial information system, which is fully capable of Intranet/Extranet/Internet services. The database "Rare and Endangered Animal Species of Primorsky Krai," which is available online at  http://item.pacific.ru/, can be a good example.

A monitoring system is developed to track migrating bird species on Asian-Pacific and North American ways. The use of ArcInfo ODE in the system framework provides interactive access to analytic GIS functions.
