In September 1999, Space Imaging launched IKONOS, a satellite with state-of-the-art one-meter resolution panchromatic and four-meter resolution multispectral imaging capabilities. IKONOS satellite imagery will be detailed, up-to-date, timely, digital, accurate, and information-rich. Used in a GIS, IKONOS data will allow for enhanced analysis for a range of applications. This paper will describe the new advantages of using IKONOS satellite data for land use/land cover mapping. Real case application examples will be provided. |
