Enterprise GIS Tools Support Consistent and Cost-Effective Environmental Data Management Within the U.S. Navy Author: Daniel H Feinberg 13921 Park Center Road Phone: 703-471-1441 CH2M HILL is assisting the Atlantic Division (LANTDIV) of the United States Navy to provide a variety of engineering services to support LANTDIV's environmental program. Efforts support Installation Restoration (IR) and the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) programs at Navy facilities in the eastern United States, Caribbean, North Atlantic, and Europe. Significant geographic, environmental, and geologic data is collected, presented, and analyzed at these facilities. Development and implementation of enterprise-level desktop (ArcView GIS) and Web-based GIS tools to support data management and environmental restoration at both the base and at the command levels will be presented. Use of standard relational databases, spatial data standards, and other design considerations will be discussed. |
