In a number of situations in the western United States and Canada, medium resolution (i.e., 5-m resolution) imagery has proven to be a very effective management tool and has replaced expensive field data collection. A number of examples will be presented illustrating its utility for road updating, cut block updating, and watershed management. Accuracy assessments for supporting fieldwork will also be presented. Additionally, research is underway to determine the utility of this data for timber typing and related information. The results of this analysis will be presented as well. Results will be shown in ArcView GIS format.
