Currently, little is known about the spatial aspects of drug use in the arrestee population. This research uses information about drug use from the Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring (ADAM) program. ADAM is a national program that conducts in-depth interviews with arrestees about many facets of their lives including their drug use history, work history, and living arrangements. Examining the spatial dimension of this problem yields a wealth of information about arrestees and allows the identification of concentrations of offenders and locations of arrest as well as their proximity to services. This information is essential to developing good public policy.
