Working with Pacific Meridian Resources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (CERL) has embarked on a project to develop a prototype for the Data Enterprise Repository (DER) that is at the heart of the Land Management System initiative. This initiative affords integrated spatial query and mapping capabilities with state-of-the-art database management. The DER is a networked repository of natural resource data.

This paper will review the requirements and opportunities for developing an Internet-based DER that provides storage and mapping capabilities. In particular, this paper will review the issues involved in integrating ArcIMS and ColdFusion/Active Server Pages as application development platforms, with Oracle and ArcSDE for database development.
