At the CDC's Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, cross-disciplinary teams have long used GIS as a tool to characterize exposed populations and analyze sampled and modeled emissions. The utility of GIS quickly spawned a need for all agency personnel to be able to access GIS data residing in a central data warehouse. To meet this critical need, Electronic Data Systems (EDS) has developed an Intranet map server using MapObjects, MapObjects Internet Map Server (IMS), and SDE technology. This unique and practical solution has facilitated extensive access to data including site boundaries, TIGER files, census, aerial photography, and sampled and modeled emissions.
