Enabling Database-Driven GIS in a Cost-Conscious Environment Author: Ryan Moss Pulis 7550 Lucerne Dr. Phone: 440-826-4900 Despite the obvious power and advantages of storing and managing data in an RDBMS environment, many users do not have the volume of data to require, or the budget to obtain, software such as ArcSDE or a high-end DBMS to manage their data. Brown and Caldwell is making use of ArcView GIS and its database integration capabilities to create database-driven applications for sewer infrastructure inspection, condition assessment, and asset management. Tools have been built for maintaining network topology through a database, accessing CCTV pipe inspection video from ArcView GIS, and automated report map production, creating an innovative solution for our cost-conscious customers. |
