The land-water interface constitutes a significant opportunity for integration of common features found in many layers that comprise the Salton Sea Data Repository. In addition, this interface is a critical component for generating bathymetric data and modeling critical habitat characteristics. USGS digital orthophotograph files provided a unique, high-resolution data set from which a detailed shoreline can be derived. ARC GRID and ArcInfo were used to create overlays depicting threshold image values selected by the interpreter, which were then visually compared to the imagery to verify the interpretation. A critique of these methods and recommendations for improving on this approach are included.
